pool-day-09
Today we had our yearly school trip to the local pool. We began with some races so that we could pick the team to enter the inter school sports. Then everyone had heaps of fun in the pool and coming down the hydro slide.
Some of the teachers below discuss who is going to go into the school swimming team!

Today we got into painting with cool colours. This time we drew 5 wavy lines and then filled them in, we couldn’t have any of the same colour touching. Here is a video of some of our work in progress. With a few other topics thrown in!

movie-2 This is a longer clip of our session today. About an hour into the process! There is quite a bit of happy chat! I am hoping the movie clip will work when I publish. This has been a long evening and a learning curve for me, if I had been at school I would have been nagging Mr Elms to help me. However it’s satisfying to find out for myself!

Let’s see if I can get another small clip to upload of a different group from today. Unfortunately these shorter clips were taken at the beginning when not very much had been completed. mvi_0343

mvi_0344 Today we took warm colours only. On an A4 we drew 5 staight lines in any way, and then we painted them in warm colours. The idea was to have no colour the same next to each other. It involved quite a bit of mixing. The video shows some of us in action!
It is only a small clip, I did make longer ones, and then found can only upload 20mb ones, so tomorrow will catch another group working.

Today Antonio introduced us to a special interest of his, transformers. He spoke to us about them, and as well as part of his homework he had prepared a poster on transformers for us to read and look at.

Well done Antonio.

Throughout this week we have been learning to mix colours. On Monday we used paint to mix primary colours to make secondary colours. We also mixed primary and secondary colours.

On Tuesday we had an art lady to teach us. We mixed colours with crayons. She taught us how to draw five different flowers.
It’s been an exciting week. Maybe next weeks going to be even better.

Being Friday, we did some writing that we worded together, and then Amelia was our writer and put it up on the board. She did a great job.
We then turned to the editing and proof reading, we had to cut out some words where we had repeated words, and in another place add in a word we had left out. After that we checked the spelling and it was ready to be published. You can see that up above, as we were summarising what we had been learning about in our topic, Colour Our World.

Today we learned about Mary and her call to become the Mother of Jesus. We listened to the story from the Bible and then we got into pairs and role played, Gabriel reporting back to God about the mission he had been sent on. Then in fours we shared the role play with each other. Lastly, Miss T and Antonio role played Gabriel and God for everyone. They both enjoyed that!

The other day teaching and learning was suspended for a short time while everyone went to the window to watch the rain! Then during the lunch break, some keen boys were into the Lego. They really enjoy this, although because there is a limited amount to share among a group, the agreement is they create, but it only lasts for the session. A few photos were taken to remind them of their creations.
