About myself!

My name is Beatrice. I’m 9 years old.  My birthday is on August 19.  I like reading and drawing.  I also like writing stories that I only made up.  I really like my avatar, it looks beautiful.  I drew it because I like going outside, so I drew the trees in the avatar, I also like princesses so I drew the princess in it. That’s a few things about me.

What Makes Our School a Great School.

Today we got into groups and discussed what makes our school one we’re really proud of. Here is our combined list.

Our School Colours!  Our roots are in Ireland. Irish sisters came in the 1950′s to begin our school.  We are called St Patricks.  St Patrick was a missionary in Ireland.  So our school colours are linked to our roots and we are proud of them.

Really Good Teachers.  Our teachers are kind and caring.  They let us expand our learning, we learn lots of things every day.  They give us a choice of homework.  They take everything very seriously.  They help us.

Learning.  The learning is at the right level for our age.  We learn lots of things every day.

Friends.  We make good friends here. Our friends are kind and share with us.  We are like one big family. There are hardly any bullies.  Everyone is kind, friendly and cheerful.

Church and Religious EducationThe church is close by and in RE we learn about God.

We have a great Library.

We enjoy doing lots of Art.

We have a special welcome ceremony for new students.

We have a great big field to play on.

Awesome trips.  Like the Monet trip and the whale and zoo trips.

Fun Activities.  For example St Patrick’s day sports and Mission Day.

Congratulations.

Amelia and Connor received awards today at School Assembly.  Amelia for all the blog reading and commenting that she has been doing.  Connor for his commitment to homework and getting involved in making comments too.  Well done to both of you.

Chicken Feathers by Joy Cowley.

Chicken Feathers is about a boy named Josh who lived on a chicken farm.  Josh has a pet hen named Semolina.  Semolina can talk but will only talk to Josh, and when Josh tries to convince people to believe him they just think he’s telling stories.  One day Semolina starts to talk about a fox but when Josh tells his dad he does not believe him.  Suddenly Semolina goes missing, so Josh makes a seach party.  I really liked this story, it gave me a lot of feelings and really got my heart pumping, and I knew I’d love it right from the first page.

Into The Wipeout Zone

Hi my name is Antonio. Last week I showed the class my poster on Wipeout Australia.  Be careful because the hardest obstacles are The Big Balls, The Spinner and The Sweeper. My favourite obstacles are The Big Balls, The Sucker Punch and The Dizzy Dummy.  This programme is on every Sunday at 7.00 to 8.00 on channel 3.  I recommend this show for everybody that wants to have a good laugh.  So have a good day and Big Balls.

Visit to our local library.

library-visit_0002

Every second Thursday we visit our local district library.  Carol, the children’s librarian reads us a story. Today she had something extra for us, as it is Race Relation’s week.  She told us a little about that, then all the students made a person out of clay, these will go out into the library garden and remain there until they become part of the earth again.  She explained we are all different and yet we all are all share so much in common.  Listen in to the video clip. Carol explains it well.

Punctuation. Why do we need it?

Listen in to a couple of the groupspunctuation_0001         In writing we are learning about the importance of punctuation.  Writers use it to help the reader understand how they want us to read the words.  Imagine a whole lot of ideas written down without it, we would soon get quite lost.

Today we got together in groups and explored some big books, to see what we could discover about punctuation.  We noted down what we noticed, what we thought it meant, and wrote down an example.  We all found some punctuation, and tomorrow we will share our findings and ideas on why they were used.

Let the St Pat’s Sports Fun begin!

A video of some of the fun.sports-st-pats-day_0001Every year the Year 8 students organise some fun sports for us to participate in.  Today we did that, the Year 8′s were led by their teacher Mrs A. who was on hand overseeing everyone. Good on you all, we enjoyed it.  The photo is of a teacher and parent who came dressed appropriately!

Celebrating St Patrick’s Day.

A short video of some of the celebration.st-pats-day-mass_0001Today is St Patrick’s Day and as our school is called St Patrick it’s a big day for us. Firstly we joined with the parish for a Mass.  The Archbishop joined us and led the celebration. That was rather special.
