Well we have been at the Catholic Education Conference in Wellington. We have had some very good keynote speakers. One speaker came to us via video link, he could see us and we could see him, but we were in New Zealand and he was in Ireland. Amazing. Of course there has been longer lunch times and a chance to walk to the shops and all the sales. A bonus.

Daniel has had two weeks as worker of the week and now he has made his choice as to who is to be the WOW for week one of the new term. I like the way Daniel makes his announcement, very fluent.

We have moved passed the half way mark for the year, it is speeding by. We welcome Joseph to the class, he has settled in well, it’s like he has always been here.
This term is a busy one, we have already started gymnastics on a Tuesday down at the gym club and we have started our social studies top “Sir Edmund Hillary”.
We have the winter sports tournament coming up in week 5 and camp at El Rancho in Week 8. I will be away for week 9 and Mrs Ellis will be here for the whole week.
We start our visits to the local district library next Thursday, we couldn’t begin this week because of the rain starting just at the time we were about to leave!

Try doing this puzzle. It is a clue also to our next topic of work for Term 3. A social studies unit. Let us know your best time in the comments. My first try was a bit over the average!! I need to improve that! Click on the arrow in the picture and begin!

Every term we award two certificates for excellence. Last term it was Beatrice and Antonio. They have continued their excellence this term so well done to them. This term’s awards go to Daniel M and Breellen, who both work really well in class and on their homework. They are what I call self motivated learners. Congratulations to you both. I wonder who will join the excellence list for 2009 in Term 3? There will be no worker of the week for this week. Daniel and Breellen will share privileges in Week 1 of Term 3 and then Daniel will name the WOW for Week 1 in Term 3 at the end of that week.

Dear Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, help us to tell the truth, help us when times are rough at home or at work. Holy Spirit, the Spirit of peace, please comfort the sick and help them to get better. Amen.

For my birthday this year, my friend Daniel got me the book “Secrets of Deltora”. It has everything from maps to wonders of Deltora. It is about Doran the Dragonlovers (aka: Dragonfriend) tour around Deltora. Along the way he encounters things from dragons to inns. In this part journal, part travel guide, he tells you about all the things you can encounter in Deltora. When I first got it, it stood out to me because it had a 3-d cover! Hope you can see it in the photo. Another thing not to miss when you read this, is the map ( which lucky for you, I’ve pictured). It shows every thing from roads to towns, landmarks to territories. If you magnify the photos, you can make out the writing and the roads. I definitely would rate it a solid 9 out of 10. Hope my review helped you. Antonio
