Jump Jam

Has your heart ever beaten so fast, pounding like its going to burst from your chest?  You get that feeling when you dance and exercise to the rythmn of music.  This is my experience of Jump Jam. Every Monday and Friday,  our school swarms  to Grace hall to participate  in Jump Jam.  Jump Jam is kids Aerobics.  Sometimes the music is fast, like when you dance to “4 minutes” and other times it starts off fast and slows down like a car braking.  This happens with the “Madagascar” song. I like to stand at the front and lead. Sometimes we leaders muck up the directions and I think you know what happens next.  It ends up in a disaster… some leaders move to the right and others to the left, and the followers part like a banana split.  Once we went to the workshop in Palmerston North where we were shown how to be a leader. That was loads of fun. About 13 different schools also joined in. Maybe you want to be a leader ?

We’re on Two Weeks Holiday.

September 134On Friday we had mufti day. I loved Antonio’s tee shirt! I’d love to get one!!

Yes we are closed, which makes our commenting challenge get further behind. However I will be checking in every day and will moderate comments. I will also reply to comments. I hope my students who log  in will do the same.  One of the ways to get their own blog for term 4 is to be an active thoughtful commenter on this and blogs in the challenge.

Carnivore Kiwi

Siabhaon's cat 2This  is  my  cat  named Tui. As you can see  she is sleeping in a kiwi.  She has slept in it ever since my mum bought it home from the lotto shop. Tui loves to sleep in it if you come to my house she’ll probably be in it, asleep.

Origami

Origami Video  My hobby is origami.  Origami means folding paper.  I can make a bird, a waterbomb, a cat, a seal sitting on a rock, a sword fish and more.  I’ve got three origami books full of animals and objects.  Here are some photos of things I’ve made and a video of me making a water bomb.

Lions

Rough, blood thirsty, man eating cats well, that’s the impression.  As you read this you will discover the truth of the amazing life of lions.  Lions are the second biggest cat in the world after the Siberian tiger.  Lionesses do most of the hunting because the males have manes which makes them easier to spot.  The African name for lion is samba and lions can get up to 250 kg in weight.  Lions are mostly found in India or Africa.  A male lion’s roar can be heard 5 miles away, this is because they need to warn off other male lions that might challenge him, if you look hard enough you might see a male lion’s mane, this also is to warn off lions.  Lion cubs are cute little bundles of fun but you wouldn’t like one as a pet , cubs are always ambushing there mothers tails and biting their ears but that is the only way they can learn to hunt.  Mother lions hide their cubs and move them often which is hard when you have about five to move so hyenas can’t find them.  When cubs are two moths old they will be brought to the pride.  At the age of one lionesses will join the hunt,  lions leave their mothers at the age of three.  The lion is a symbol of power and strength,  lions are the only big cats with females that look different from males.  The male lion is much bigger than the female.  A male weighs about 400 pounds a lioness weighs about 275 pounds.  A male lion’s mane protects him in a fight and shows a lioness how healthy he is.  Lions are big which means big appetite, lions will bring down impalas wildebeest,  buffalo and sometimes even elephants.  Lions have a natural hatred for wild-dogs, not just your average hyena but an extremely  rare wild-dog, sometimes they will even track down a pack and make an attack.  So, after reading this do still think of the lion  as  rough, blood thirsty, man eating cats.  I think not

Miss Barr is off to Nepal.

“I have registered as a member of the 2009-2010 Nepal Orphanage/Church team with Teen Missions Int’l Australia. Our team will fly via Singapore to Kathmandu and then travel by bus 200km to our project site at Makwanpur. There we will help out at an orphanage currently being renovated. From there we will head down the road to one of the local churches to offer much-needed practical help. We will have opportunities to share the Gospel message ourselves through music, drama, puppets, testimonies and more as well as to visit local villages as we hike along the foothills of the Himalayas.

The above was sent to us by Miss Barr.  Our school is going to help out by sending her $100 towards her mission there. In MB4 we are going to pray for her everyday as well.  We have made some cards for her and we will be posting them off tomorrow.  All the best Miss Barr. We are especially interested  because this term we have been studying the climb of Everest by Hillary and Tenzing.September 131September 133

We are learning to make worthwhile comments on blogs.

As a class we have decided that the secret to this is:

*read the post carefully and think.

*Try to write something that will get a conversation going.

*ask an open, interesting question…or…

*give your feelings or state your opinion about the post.

*say what you like or dislike in the post.

*give ideas for improvement that are positive and only if really needed.

*check the sense, spelling and punctuation before submitting the comment.

*keep the size of the comment middle sized. Not too long. Not too short.

*leave your url

*be respectful and tell the truth ( don’t say it’s a great blog when you haven’t really looked at the blog!)

*check back in day or two to see if person who wrote the post or others have replied to your comment.

We will use this to check our commenting and to see what we have succeeded in doing.
