We are learning to make worthwhile comments on blogs.
As a class we have decided that the secret to this is:
*read the post carefully and think.
*Try to write something that will get a conversation going.
*ask an open, interesting question…or…
*give your feelings or state your opinion about the post.
*say what you like or dislike in the post.
*give ideas for improvement that are positive and only if really needed.
*check the sense, spelling and punctuation before submitting the comment.
*keep the size of the comment middle sized. Not too long. Not too short.
*leave your url
*be respectful and tell the truth ( don’t say it’s a great blog when you haven’t really looked at the blog!)
*check back in day or two to see if person who wrote the post or others have replied to your comment.
We will use this to check our commenting and to see what we have succeeded in doing.

Greetings Mrs. T’s class. This is an excellent list for leaving worthwhile comments when blogging. My students here in East Texas have an excellent example to follow thanks to your great ideas in this list. Keep up the fantastic work!

Thanks Mrs Carrington, we all worked on it together, its a guide. I am sure there are more “secrets” to making good comments and we will be always open to new thoughts as well. I am looking forward to my students making richer comments from now on!

Hi there Miss T’s class.
Thanks for making the list of comment ideas. My class are being helpers for the Blogging Challenge and your list has helped us get started.
I loved seeing the El Rancho video. Believe it or not, I went there on a camp when I was at school – a very, very long time ago. Looks like it has changed a lot since then.

Thanks Ann. I’m thinking now you may be a New Zealander living in Sydney? What led you to travel and teach there? Fancy your going to El Rancho as a child. Did you grow up in this part of the country? It has been there awhile. Some features are pretty much been there for a long time. My first class I went with there was back in the early 90′s.

What a great list of ideas for comments. I am going to show my class when they get back from holidays. Did you decide on the list together?
Mrs Knott
ps Thank you to Daniel for commenting on our blog.

Mrs Knott yes we did make them together, first in groups and then combined to make one list. Of course then you have to actually make comments which is a lot more difficult. At the moment my students are making 4 comments to 4 different blogs from 4 different countries and keeping a record by pasting them into Word as well. It’s a bit slow because we just have 3 computers in the class. The keen students work at home too!
