What will you read these holidays?
I have a list so long it would take me longer than 2012 to get them all read. However these are the ones I intend reading over the summer holidays.
War Horse is the one I have started already, it is by Michael Morpurgo. It was first published in 1982. It is told from the horses point of view and is about a powerful friendship between an owner and his horse Joey. It takes place during World War 1.
The second one is Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz. I know this series has been popular with some of my students in the past so I want to find out what they like about it. It was published in 2000 so it has been around awhile.
Son of Neptune is next on my list. I read the first one earlier in the month and couldn’t resist buying this one while I was in the book shop. This belongs to the Heroes of Olympus second series. It was published in 2011.
This is a rather unusual book that I found out about from some teachers online. It is a rather large hardback and is a little different from most books. It contains two stories 50 years apart. One is told in words, the other pictures. They eventually link. That is all I know until I read it. Published in 2011.
I would also like but don’t yet have sitting beside me a few other books. One is a graphic novel that I have heard good things about. Anya’s Ghost by Vera Brosgol.
Our Only May Amelia by Jennifer Holm is the other book I would like to read when I get it. It was written a number of years ago, but the author has written a follow up just recently. So I will need to read this one first!
So…. how about you? What are your reading plans for the holiday break? I would love to know.
I do know that Daniel hopes to be reading one of my choices after Christmas has hopefully delivered the book!

The Five Ancestors series has been very popular in last couple of years in the class. I am so pleased you have enjoyed them too. Great to hear you are reading over the holidays. Hope you get a few good books for Christmas. I am sure after the holidays Daniel S and Antonio will point you towards other great books or you may have plans of your own.
Enjoy the holidays and happy reading!

Hello Miss T,
I have recently finished off Wonder Struck, I do agree with you, it’s not like any other book I have read, but the ending is fantastic.
I am thinking of reading War Horse, I have looked at the ratings and it has been rated quite high, what would you rate the book out of 5?
Hopefully there is some more books you can recommend!
Best wishes,
Emma

Hello Emma
I cannot remember what I rated War Horse, but I think it was probably 5 stars. You can check up on me when I join you up to Goodreads very soon. It is definitely worth the read, and shows wonderful friendship between horses. Actually the book is told from the horse’s point of view.
I hope I will be able to recommend some more books to you. Also on Goodreads you will be able to get recommendations from some of our class as well. Have you read the Babymouse books? They seem simple but the ideas that are explored are really ageless.
Best wishes

Hi again Miss T,
I have just started War Horse today, it seems a good book. Goodreads sounds great, and I am sure I will recommend books for some of our class.
No I have not read Babymouse yet, but I am sure I will, hopefully soon!
What did you think of the Babymouse books? Is it something you would read again?
Best Wishes,
Emma

I have signed you up to Goodreads tonight, so tomorrow you will be able to set yourself up. I hope you will enjoy being there.
I have only read one Babymouse book and I enjoyed it. Yes, I will read some more of them when I get through my big pile of “I want to read” books!
Best wishes

Hello
Mistea I am thinking of reading the Heroes of Olympus Son of Neptune. What other books do you recommend I read? I am now reading the book called “Danger Boy” it is about a boy that lost his mum because of an explosion, this is the only thing I know about it because I left the book at school. I recommend it to people that like fiction books.

Did you read the first series of Percy Jackson, if you didn’t I would recommend you read that series first. I didn’t and had to back track to the first series. It starts with The Lightning Thief. If you have read the first series then start with The Lost Hero and then comes Son of Neptune.
The book you are reading sounds great. Have you read the Anthony Horowitz series that starts with Stormbreaker? Remember Angus was reading that series last year. I read the first one, it was easy reading but full of action. I think you would really like that series. They are in the school library and public library. The school library one is a bit tatty so I would buy it or borrow it from the public library.
Hope all is going well for you.

Hi my name is Shannon from St. Louis, Missouri. In science I have been learning about what plants need to live and I decided to try watering two different plants with Dr. Pepper and Fruit Punch but they both turned dark green and died.
