New School Year Begins
We are now two days into the new term. So here we are settling into our Room 8 classroom yesterday.
Sorting books and things into our individual buckets!
And some exercise books into shared containers.
And down to work !
How are you finding the new school year? What do you like or dislike about our new space? What’s your feelings and thoughts around our buckets?
Any other ideas you would like to share and how these might be put in place?

Happy New Year Room 8. From what I can see your classroom looks great. I’m looking forward to checking out your class blog from time to time to find out what you have been up to! Hope you all have a fantastic year, and learn lots.

I think that this year is going to be great. I think the buckets are a bit different but I think they work better than desks and trays.
I also think that having no designated spots to sit in will work well. Working with friends sometimes, but sometimes sitting by yourself to get on with your work.
I also think that is good to have parents (like my mum) commenting on blogs. I enjoy getting comments from my mum on my blog, and catching up with all the things I’ve been writing about.
So lets see how this year turns out, Antonio

Thank you for the positive feedback about the buckets. It seems to me that they work well. Also changing seats according to who you need to work with, or whether you want to work by yourself or with others also works in our set up. Sometimes a bit of peace and quiet is needed.
Mind you, I am going to have to keep my eye on Mr Elms, turning the buckets into drums! I don’t know, I just can’t turn my back on adults!
I love how your Mum comments on the class blogs and your blog. I think actually she deserves an award.
Thank you for your quality commenting.
Best wishes

Hi Miss T,
I have really enjoyed the first two weeks at school. I will really miss it when I go to college.
I really like the idea of having our own buckets even if it is a bit strange. I think they work a lot better then last year where we had selves.
I feel this year is going to be a good one
Yours sincerely

I am so happy to hear you have enjoyed the first two weeks of school, they seem to have gone by so fast. Of course that have been four day weeks. Next week will be no better, with yachting and the pools on Friday.
Pleased the buckets are working out, I felt a bit stupid for thinking up the idea, but all in all they are working out.
Don’t worry about missing it when you go to college. Enjoy now, and then you will be so ready for college and I know you will love all the opportunities there.
I feel too that this year is going to be a good one too.

Hi Miss T
I have really enjoyed school so far, and I hope the rest of the year is just as good.
I thought it was a bit odd a first but now I think the buckets are quite useful actually. Like Bree said, they are a whole lot better than the shelves we had last year. Also, they are easier to keep tidy, you can just bring them around with you instead of just getting one thing out, and there’s no chance of anything falling on your head, which I had the misfortune to encounter last year.
Yours sincerely,
Simone

Hello Simone
I am giggling because you write with that ability to say things that are humourous. A bit like Doug in Okay For Now. Yes but it certainly wasn’t funny to be hit on the head with falling things so the buckets certainly get around that difficulty.
I hope the year goes well, with everything that is happening I think it will speed by. French next week! Soon you will all be talking in French.
Yours sincerely

Hi Miss T
I after using the buckets for over a week, I think the buckets have worked well!
I am Thankful that we DON”T have to sit at one desk for one entire TERM! I like that we can work with friends, and have lots and lots of places to read, although, some people in class can get quite annoying if when they keep on talking!
I hope the year goes great!

I am pleased to find out that you think the buckets are working. I think the good thing is that if anyone is talking and annoying you there are plenty of places to shift to.
I hope this year goes great too, it is shaping up to be.
Au revoir

Hello
Mistea I can see that your class is having lots of fun. It is a very good idea to put you things in containers that can be easily carried. You can work with different people that you don’t know. I see that Daniel thinks that is a good idea as well but some people are annoying. I was just wondering if your students like this idea as much as I do?

Yes the buckets are working out well and the students prefer them to putting things on shelves. Especially Simone who had things fall down on her last year. Also its very quick to get the things you need, no need to wait for others like we did last year.

Hello Miss T,
Boy, has last year gone FAST, I am already a year 8 and off to college next year!
The first day of school I was thinking the buckets would never work, but after a week or two they are actually very handy.
Do you like this classroom better than MB4 Miss T?
Best wishes,
Emma

Yes the classroom space is great and on the whole I like it more than room 4. Although that was a very nice room I must say and I loved the carpet on the wall that I was able to easily attach posters to using little round dotty things.
It turns out the music school are coming in three nights a week after school, which I didn’t realise. That means I have to be out of there by 3 :15 pm which means I get no work done. I am going to have to see if something can be arranged to give me more days in my room after school. Otherwise I won’t be able to get my preparation done.
Best wishes
