Senior Winter Tournament
On Tuesday all the year 7 and 8s went to play at the Senior Winter tournament. We had a choice of Netball, Rippa Rugby or Soccer, but we didn’t have enough people for one soccer team so they made another rippa team.
We sent off two netball teams and two rippa teams. We all went on the bus, and when we arrived the netball people went to the court and the rippa people went around to the rugby fields. I was playing netball, so I went to my team mates and we went to our court for the first game against Otaki college. We got absolutely thrashed on this first game, losing 22 nil. Yeah. Meh. We improved over the day though, getting a higher score every time until we eventually won the last game. Yay!
The other netball team won their first game, but by default because the other team was late. They lost all their other games. BUT they got into a play-off which my team found really annoying because we won the same amount of games as them, and we actually played the game that we won, but oh well.
The rippa teams did quite well. Both teams came fourth in their grade, which was really great!
The tournament was really fun, despite the fact a lot of people had sore legs afterwards (and I fell over in one of the games and had to go off because I hurt my arm – it went all weird and I couldn’t catch the ball properly for a while!) I can’t wait until next year’s tournament!

It’s great that the netball teams had a great time as well as the rippa teams. Though it is always better if you win a few games, but oh well.
I definitely think that most rippa players had sore legs. I think, and most people agree, that we need a lot bigger teams. We only had 3 subs at the start of the day, and 2 very exhausted ones by the end. Everyone seemed to want to come off because they were so tired, and we just didn’t have enough people.
It must have been disappointing to not make it into the semis, even though you won as many games as the other team. Maybe they made it in, and you didn’t, because there was one less team in the other teams’ competition, so a spot opened up for them to go through. But that is only my thinking.

Dear Simone,
I really enjoyed Winter tournament and wish I could go again next year.
The first game we played really was a mess, but luckily we got better though-out the day.
At fist I was a little bit annoyed we didn’t get into a play-off like the other team, but they played really well.
The ripper teams, sounded like they did really well, and i would of enjoyed watching one of their games

The first game WAS a mess and I’m really glad that we improved. We worked together really well through to the final game which we won.
The rippa team did do really well, much better than us, and I agree it would have been good if we got to watch them play one of their games

I also enjoyed the winter tournament too. I’m glad the netball team had a fun time at the tournament. The rippa rugby team had a hard time too. By the end of the day I think all the teams were tired and worn out.
