Welcome Back To Term 4
Are you ready to start a new term adventure? Let’s Go!
We will be sharing the new book by Rob Buyea, Mr Terupt Falls Again. It was published on the 9th of October and should reach our classroom in a week or two at the most. That will give us time to refresh our minds about the characters so that we are ready to read!
I hope you have all been reading over the two week break, I read Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan, and I noticed on Goodreads that a few of you have been too. What else have you all been reading?
This term we have speeches, details of the parent night date have yet to be decided, but it is time to get started. It will be mainly work at home, or you can use writing time during Daily Five if you choose. If you are going between home and school, I suggest you use google docs.
Topics are:
Yr 4-6
My sport hero and how they influence my life.
or….
Kapiti coast is a great place for kids to grow up.
Yr 7-8
Kapiti coast is a great place for kids to grow up.
or…
Students need their own digital device for learning these days.
There will be a lot more happening – see you Monday to talk about it.

Miss T,
I’m looking forward to reading Mr. Terupt falls again. In the holidays have been reading quite a lot of books. For example, I’ve just finished reading a book about a half vampire Teenager. It’s mainly about how his family is gone and how his whole life he thought he was the only vampire left, then his teacher goes missing and a mysterious reliever comes along. When you get further into the book you see how his life was before his parents died and how happy he was back then. For me the book made me feel how he felt and it made me feel as if I was in the book. Don’t you just love how a book does that ?? It kind of like magic to me.
Glad to be back at school Miss T

Indeed I love the magic of books and how they can draw you in so that you feel the feelings of a character, and also that you the reader feel like you are in the book. Always a sign that the book you are reading is well written and that you are enjoying it.
Glad to be back to school too Britney.

Hi,
I am been reading Wolves of The Beyond;1 Lone Wolf. I finished reading Wolves of The Beyond;5 Spirit Wolf on the last day in Term 3. I am already on page 127 the last page is 219. I am enjoying it so much that I asked my mum if we could go to the public libary to get, Lone Wolf and Shadow Wolf which is book;1,2, I recommend it to people who like animals and wolves mostly girls. It’s all by Kathryn Lasky She is a great author. she has written other books as well because it said so on the cover. Another series she says. I think it’s just right for me though it’s also challenging with the words. The good thing is some of the words I’m using in my speaking!!!
happy reading,

How exciting that you have found a series of books that you love. It sounds like any animal lover would love them, I think we could recommend them, you must book talk them some time to the class.
Isn’t it wonderful to come across words and to meet the challenge of them and to learn to include them in our speaking and writing. Way to go Jessica.
Happy reading

I’m glad you agree with me. I think that’s the most important effect about a book. Like you said, if the book makes you feel what the characters feel, then it’s a well written book. The magic about a book makes it more enjoyable and hopefully it’ll make you want to read it again.
I just love how the book effects me, I guess that’s why I love to read. What is your favourite type of book Miss T, like is it romance, thrillers, adventures.
Happy Readings

I mainly like books that explore relationships and the inner workings of characters. I have to admit I generally like them to end happily! I like to read women’s and young adult fiction: realistic fiction, historical fiction and I don’t mind some fantasy. I guess I am a fiction reader!

From hearing the story Because of Mr Terupt, I think I might enjoy this book. Hearing about the characters and what they’re like gives you a bit of an idea on what the story is going to be about and who will cause trouble, things like that. I look forward to reading this book and I’m positive that I’ll enjoy it.
Happy Readings to all

Yes we must write up a short summary of each character, so we can hold them all in our minds as we read.
It looks like if you wanted to borrow Because of Mr Terupt to read through it, it is available, so pick it up if you like and have a deeper read.
