Sanctum
The film beings with Frank McGuire’s team of three, Josh McGuire (Franks son) Carl Hurley ( leading an expedition bank-roller) and his girlfriend Victoria, who go to explore Esa’ala cave site (Papua New Guinea) which they have reached by Helicopter. The Esa’ala cave is the last unexplored deratory in the world. Frank McGuire had set up a base camp deep inside the cave already. They have been searching and exploring this cave system for months and have a communication network that helps them talk with people above ground.
A strong and dangerous storm spreads on the surface but the people above ground are unable to get in contact with the people in the cave to warn them. Water starts to gush down the cave, blocking there only planned exit. The only other way to get out is by following the caves path which leads to the sea. Which no human has ever been in. But one mistake in the earth’s inner sanctum, and no one will ever know you were even there.
This movie was inspired by true events, the creators of Titanic and Avatar were the ones who created Sanctum. I would recommend this movie to the age group of 12 and higher, boys or girls. My rating out of 5 would be definitely 5/5. Sanctum is an amazing movie! Not only is it adventurous, it also captures feelings.

Wow Emma, that sounds like a good movie. I didn’t even see any trailer come out on TV or anything. I think I would like to see it, especially in 3D. It would be hard top film something like that though. Where would you find a good place to shoot that where you could ensure that nobody dies? Because some of those rocks looked sharp.
What I want to know, is that unexplored cave real? You said that it was inspired by true events, but was it a real unexplored cave, or just a cave exploration gone wrong?

Hi Emma. Even though you recommened for 12 year olds I still wouldn’t mind seeing it.
I have to ask you where did you find that kind of movie it looks ridiculous in a good way meaning that it is so good for my fit to watch.
Like Antonio said do you even know if thats a real cave if it is it would be a really good tourist attraction don’t you think.

Hey Antonio,
I never saw it avertised either, but I came across it on the shelf in the DVD store and thought it might be a good movie!
Yes it would be definitely hard to film a movie of that! I wonder if they have a behind the scenes that you can watch and see how they filmed it?
I have done some research about the movie and if the cave was real or not. It happenes to not be a real cave but it is based on one that is very simalar. It also says that they took alot of ideas from what disasteres happened in caves and put it all into one.
Hey Sahara,
I did recommend this movie for 12 and up because I dont really think anyone any younger would understand what is really going on. Because there is quite alot of characters and the sometimes switch between scenes, which can be a bit confusing.
Best wishes,
Emma
