About Us.
For 2013 the class is a Year 7 and 8 in New Zealand. We have been blogging for four years. Some of the students are the same and some are new, however I did teach them mostly all before so very few are new. We begin this school year on February 2nd and end in December.
This blog is to share with parents a few things we do at school during the day. Often children tell parents they did nothing at school when asked! So this blog is a little something to help.
Blogging is also a way to open us up to other classrooms around the world and we are beginning to get more involved in that aspect of it. It is very exciting to be in contact with other classes around the world. It opens us up to so much new learning.
Any member of the class can contribute to the class blog and they are encouraged to do so. However now that many students now have their own blogs, (these are listed in the links on the class blog) most of the posting falls to the class teacher! Our class blog has become the starting off point for all the class bloggers.

Dear Miss T,
This is 6P from BHPS in Australia. Breellen wrote on our blog and so we visited your class blog. We have only just entered the blogging world and we are still learning how to put everything on. We think your blog looks awesome and we like your pet cat Misty. We hope when we add more to ours it will look as good as yours.

Dear Mrs. Trask,
My name is Ryan and I am in third grade in Mrs. Yollis’s class. It is very funny that you left a comment on our Commenting post. Your tip was to always copy the comment before you publish. I just went on a student blog, typed a great comment, forgot the anit-spam….and I lost my entire comment.
In our blog, which is a Blogger, you don’t have to copy the comment. That’s probably why I keep forgetting.
It says you are a Year 5 and Year 6 class. How old is everyone? We call them grades here in the United States.
Also, are you a teacher who teaches everything or do you teach one subject, like math or science. My sister is in middle school and she has seven different teachers!
Your friend,
Ryan ♠ ♥ ♠ ♥
P.S. This time I remembered to COPY my comment before I published it. Thank you!

Dear Ryan
Thank you firstly for such a rich worthwhile comment. I loved and appreciated your thoughts. Yes, losing a comment is very deflating, especially when so much time and care has been put into it.
Now I have another problem. Last night I was taking so much care with my posting and commenting that a pot on my stove burnt dry. Not once but twice! I have one black burnt pot to be dealt with when I get home tonight. I wonder are there any tips for that!
The age group in this class ranges from 9 years to 11 years, I forgot that detail! Our year 5 and 6 is equivalent to your grade 4 and 5.
I teach everything, that’s what most New Zealand teachers do in the primary school. The only thing I didn’t have to teach today was gymnastics as we travel to a special gymnasium for that and it is run by two gym people.
I have of middle school, but I am a little unsure about that. At what age do you go to middle school? What grades?

Miss T,
Great blog! It’s such an amazing experience being able to see blogs from all around the world. I was hoping you wouldn’t mind if I added you to my blogroll so my students can explore your site in order to compare and contrast their school experiences to those in New Zealand. Thanks!

Indeed it is, I love looking in on other classrooms. In a weeks time we go on holiday until the first week in February. Bliss! I will drop into your blog over January to ‘meet’ you all! Maybe when we get back to school your class may have some questions for us and we can ask you some too. Have a great Christmas

Hi Miss T

Hi Miss T,
My name is Danielle Maley and I teach grade 1/2 in Regina Saskatchewan Canada. I teach 6 and 7 year olds. We have started an inquiry unit about people around the world. I was wondering if you have a tech savvy student who would be willing to be one of my grade 1′s blogging buddy. The commitment would be one- two months of commenting on each other’s blogs. They would have to be willing to answer some of the questions that my student has about New Zealand, and they are allowed to ask her any questions that they have about Saskatchewan Canada! Let me know! Thanks!

Yes of course we would be happy to help. So just to clarify – you would like one of my students to comment and answer questions on one of your student’s blog. Breellen has volunteered to do this. So if you can leave me the details of the blog to visit she is happy to go ahead with this.

Hello, Miss T:
I’m Hsu-Wan Chen from Taiwan, a graduate school student at National Taiwan Normal University. Currently I’m writing my master thesis which is entitled Applying Social Networking Sites to Teaching and Learning: from Teachers’ Perspective. Right now I’m looking for school teachers to be interviewed with their experiences of using social networking sites for educational purpose. Earlier today I came across this blog and I totally got inspired. I think you would be able to give my refreshing thoughts too. If it is so, I would like to have a skype interview with you. Surely I will send you the interview protocol in advance and the interview protocol and this interview will take about 20 minutes. Please let me know and feel free to contact me at: chenshuwan@gmail.com. I really appreciate your help!
Regards,
Hsu-Wan Chen
