Wellington Free Ambulance

Each class had the opportunity of advocating for a chosen charity or good cause to donate money to, from the Mission Day fundraising.  After much deliberation Room 8 decided on the Wellington Free Ambulance.  We were able to send them $300.

Joseph undertook to write a letter on our behalf, it is as follows:

To The Wellington Free Ambulance,
Each year our school – St. Patrick’s Primary School Paraparaumu, has a school fair called Mission Day to fundraise for different organisations  that look after and support people in need of food, money and medical care. This year our school managed to raise $2100 and have come to the conclusion to send $300 each to different charities and organisations; our class has  decided that  The Wellington Free Ambulance is a worthy recipient of a share of the money, so St. Patrick’s Primary has decided to donate $300 to  The Wellington Free Ambulance. Here are some reasons why:

  • They save lives and everyone has a chance to live and deserves the medical help to live. The Wellington Free Ambulance help people of all ages from newborn babies to elderly.
  • It’s free
  • They are there straight away.
  • They are always extra cautious, no matter how minor an injury may be.
  • They are 24/7.
  • The paramedics have to cope with all the nasty and disturbing events which most people can’t handle.
  • They are local.
  • Many of us in our class have been helped and travelled in the Wellington Free Ambulance
  • Giving the money to The Wellington Free Ambulance, our school will be contributing and looking at a great aspect of our local area’s needs and might inspire other schools or groups of people to also support this organisation.

We hope the $300 is helpful towards The Wellington Free Ambulance.

Yours sincerely

Joseph

Christmas is Coming.

Just 2 more weeks till the holidays and 3 weeks to Christmas. We have been preparing during Advent for Christmas by preparing a Christmas play for the rest of the school. Here are a few songs from our little show.

Mission Day 2010

Once a year we take a morning out for some fun that raises money for those people living in parts of the world who have experienced disasters or struggles of various kinds.  Today we raised just  over $2000 that we will be able to send out in 2011.  For a school not much more than 130, I think that’s excellent.  Well done team.

Short video of Christmas play.

Here is a short video of our Christmas play. Just a few snippets to remember it. It was a really enjoyable experience and I think in 2010 we will combine with Mrs B’s class and do another one and this time I think we will have everybody dress up and think a little more about the background!

The Eye Behind the Raffle Table on Mission Day

Raffles are always popular.  How much chance is there of winning?!!

Every year we take a school day and we raise money to send to the Missions and places of need. For example just last month we sent $500 to Samoa via the Red Cross to help with the tsunami damage.  We also have a world vision child that we sponsor.  So I will be uploading some videos of our fundraising efforts.  While we help others, it is a day that our school celebrates, as parents, teachers, and children cooperate and work together, It is always loads of fun, and pupils from the school long after they have left us, remember it as a day they really valued and enjoyed.

Miss Barr is off to Nepal.

“I have registered as a member of the 2009-2010 Nepal Orphanage/Church team with Teen Missions Int’l Australia. Our team will fly via Singapore to Kathmandu and then travel by bus 200km to our project site at Makwanpur. There we will help out at an orphanage currently being renovated. From there we will head down the road to one of the local churches to offer much-needed practical help. We will have opportunities to share the Gospel message ourselves through music, drama, puppets, testimonies and more as well as to visit local villages as we hike along the foothills of the Himalayas.

The above was sent to us by Miss Barr.  Our school is going to help out by sending her $100 towards her mission there. In MB4 we are going to pray for her everyday as well.  We have made some cards for her and we will be posting them off tomorrow.  All the best Miss Barr. We are especially interested  because this term we have been studying the climb of Everest by Hillary and Tenzing.September 131September 133

Term 3 Group Work.

This term we have been working cooperatively in teams, especially in Religious Education and Social Studies. I have noticed that almost everyone in the class are good team members and some of the class are making excellent team members. Well done, keep on contributing to your group, bringing your ideas to the task, and getting the job done.
