Are you ready for the 31st of January?

I hope you are making the most of the last week of the holidays. I am already back at school getting the classroom up and ready. It’s looking better every day. I hope you like it, I think you will.

Just a reminder if you are covering your exercise books, remember to put a label on the outside so that your name is clearly shown and there is a place for the subject. There is no need to cover them if you don’t want, it is entirely up to you – and your Mum I guess!

Also don’t forget, if you have exercise books from last year that haven’t been used much, use those before you buy more. If you want, that is!

It would help if you can clearly label your clearfile as well. There is a new system of organisation for exercise books and clear files.

Remember to check out where your sunhat and PE uniform is. Those need to be clearly labelled as well.

A Peek into our Classroom

Setting Goals.

Today was our first day of the new term.  One of the tasks that we worked on was setting goals for ourselves in homework, for independent learning time and in two other areas.  Now I want you to check them against these:

S        is each goal specific?  what are you going to do? Start it with

           an action word, that helps.

M       will you be able to measure it? How?

A        is it attainable?   Is it within your reach?

R        is it realistic for you?  Not too easy because there is no

stretch, but not too hard either so that you give

           up.

T        Timely.  Is there a timeframe for your goal.

When does it begin? When will it end?

Here are a few of my goals.  Are they SMART?

Goal one:  Walk daily working towards 5000 steps a day.

Goal two:  Write 10 comments on class blogs starting today and completing it by next Sunday.

Goal three:  Spend some time on Glogster this week, sorting out student accounts so that some class students can begin exploring its use.

Goal four:  This week read two chapters of the book “Grammar Study” by Janet Angelillo.

What are your goals?  Those of you who have your own blogs might like to post them there.  Perhaps you could leave a comment here sharing one that is important to you and why is it important.
