Vote! Vote! Vote!

It’s time for all of us to vote.

Do it at home.  Only one vote per day from an IP address, so at school only one person’s vote will count on any day, so we will set up a roster!  Vote at home.

Here are some categories you might like to vote in!  Watch out for Teegan, let’s support her.  Street Talk is in the video/podcast category, and vote for which free web tool you have enjoyed or used and like.

Vote for Teegan! And Street Talk!  I have!

And in Best Media/Podcast, scroll down and find Street Talk. I think they deserve our vote, we have enjoyed their shows.

And by the way, you also might like to vote for Sue Wyatt in the Lifetime Achievement category. Sue has organised all the Edublog Student Blogging Challenges.  Let’s support her too.

Mission Day 2011

Every year we spend a morning fund raising so that we have some money to send to overseas children who are in need, or sometimes New Zealand. Today was that day. The weather was fine and we had a lot of fun as usual. Well done Year 7, you did a fantastic job with your games. Year 8 you were fabulous on the stalls. Up there with the best. Thank you all.
We made over $1920 and still have some bits and pieces of coins to add in! Well done.

Olivewood iEngaged

Olivewood School in California has one of the class  blogs we are quadblogging with, you can link to it by clicking on the picture and seeing what they are up to. They use ipod touches a lot, so I am hoping we may pick up a few tips from them.

Welcome to Quadbloggers

We are just beginning our quadblogging journey.  We welcome visitors from Olivewood and Chorlton Park schools and perhaps Mount Scopus Memorial.  We are in Week 2 of our last term of the year.  Our school year ends in December unlike schools in the Northern Hemisphere.

Some of the students got together and made a short video to present to our visitors a little bit about us.  It was there first time filming and editing it, so please understand that.  We are going to view it ourselves to see what we need to develop and improve on for our next video. Perhaps our visitors might let us know what they would like to see.

Speeches

This term we have speeches to prepare and present.

Year 5 & 6 have two choices:    It was the Bigget Surprise……. or

A person I Would Love to Meet   ( living or dead).

Year 7 & 8 have two choices:     A Person I Would Love to Meet   ( living or dead).

An Invention I Enjoy and Appreciate.

Speeches need to be two to three minutes long for Year 5 & 6.  For Year 7 & 8 three to four minutes.

It should have a strong lead, have some well researched information, have details that engage your audience and have an ending that leaves your listeners with something to think about.

The speech needs to be ready to present to the class in Week 5  Tuesday 22nd of November. This is the last possible date. Speech night for parents is Wednesday 30th November at 7pm.

You will need to work on this in class during writing time and also at home.  Along with Reading every night this is your homework for this term.

Global Connections.

This term we have a number of interactions planned for sharing with students from around the world in various ways.

Through Edmodo we are able to interact with students from various countries, sharing information about ourselves and our ways and customs.  Once you have joined Edmodo, don’t forget to join the Global connection group, get active. If you have already introduced yourself there that’s great. If you haven’t that is your first task. One of the topics at present is how each student celebrates Halloween. I also notice some students have asked other questions that you might answer.

We are also going to be involved with another group, taking photos around set topics and uploading them and sharing them on Flickr.  You will be able to develop the photo taking skills you started at camp at the end of last term.  The November topic will be coming out very soon.

We have the Blogging Challenge to get active in, because of the holidays, most of us have let that slip.  Now is the time to get involved again. As a class we will be exploring how we can be more active.

Quad blogging is another link that we will have with the world around us.  As you know quad means four.  We will be especially involved with three other blogging  class partners.  We make the fourth.

Our classes are in Quad 49!

They are from: Britain,  USA or Canada, (I need to clarify that)  Australia and New Zealand (us).

Camp visit to Vertical Horizens in Inglewood.

Last week we had a fabulous week of outdoor activities at camp. The weather was excellent – but the water was cold!! Everyone was tired by the end of it and Miss T had Dino and Ambros asleep in the car coming back!

Camp Day 3 and 4

Camp Chants.

Each team at camp had their own chant, these developed over the week, until the final chant after the team raft races.

Camp Week

Last week in September, and we are off to camp up country.  So our class blogs and student blogs will be quiet.

We will be back next week to catch up.
