Kapiti College
This week everyone returned back to school (not everyone’s favourite week!). In the first week a lot happened including the year eights going to Kapiti College.
We were guided around the college by people who used to go to our school. They took us to nine different places. My favourite place we went to was the drama room. We played some games, one of them was played by 4 people going into the the middle of the circle of people. Three of them are being chased around by one that has their eyes closed. We also went to see the new gym which was really big and packed with lots of sports equipment. When we went to the film classrom the actors put on a play about detectives interigating a guy from Paraparaumu College about why he wasn’t going to Kapiti College. They also gave us the opportunity to have a go at acting, playing with the editing equipment or putting on stage make-up. Another class we went to was Art, we played the three line game which is were you are given three random lines and you have to make a picture out of them. My groups topic was Zombies. So we all had to draw a zombie using the three random lines. At science we saw some really cool experiments, one was with dry ice and it created a white gas that floated out of the beaker. Another place we went to was the Cooking classrom we everyone got to choose a colour of icing and make a pattern on a cookie using a piping bag and that colour icing. Overall it was a great day and everyone had lots of fun.
Wednesday night was the Kapiti College open evening. A lot of students went to have a look around the parts of the college we didn’t see on Tuesday. We were taken around the college in groups of about 20 people most of them being parents. We saw a few places including the French block where four of the students did a play about the three little pigs in Fluent French. We also went to the Maths room, tech rooms(cooking, materials, woodwork, etc) and the dance studio were they had dances doing various dances under flashing colourful lights. When we returned to the Hall for a speech by the head girl, head boy and the principal the room was packed and majority of the people were standing.
After visiting Kapiti College I realise that I have a hard choice to make about what college I’m going to go to. Kapiti College seem to be a great college with a large resourceful gym, many working computers, nice people and good staff and teaching methods. I’m looking forward to going to college next year, which ever one I do go to, are you?
